Event Planning For Churches Funny Business has worked for hundreds of churches and synagogues across the DFW metroplex. These groups found Funny Business was a source for fair and festival equipment, bounce houses, carnival games, and most especially, entertainment appropriate for a church or synagogue environment. Two excellent entertainment choices are Kelly, and Margaret the Story Lady.
Kelly is so talented, you might think she apprenticed with the area's leading puppeteer. In fact, she did, studying with Rosalee Perryman for many years. Rosalee was the area's leading performer with puppets and marionettes before leaving to open a puppet theatre in Branson, Missouri. Kelly was an avid student, learning the magic skill of making lifeless puppets appear to have a life of their own. With hand puppets and marionettes, there are few to equal Kelly's skill. In addition to performing with puppets, Kelly also learned the secrets to making her own partners, giving her a unique show available no where else. Driven in all areas of her life, Kelly served as a children's pastor for 5 years. Currently, she is on the teaching staff at Gateway Church in Southlake. Mastering the art of puppetry is one passion - the other is her devotion to her faith. Kelly can deliver a show which is either Christian focused, or secular. The shows are approximately 30 minutes long, and are age appropriate for 4 and up. If you would like a Christian based show, you want either "Don't Worry, Trust Jesus," or "Jesus Is My Friend." Both of these shows engage the children while sharing the message of Good News. If your budget will handle a custom program, Kelly has extensive resources. Margaret, aka the Story Lady. She will tell the Old Testament story of The Good Shepherd and the Lost Lamb, adding a captivating performance to the story. With hand puppets, ventriloquism and lots of upbeat children’s music her 30 minute performance will keep audiences focused. This show is suitable for all denominations, as God is the center of the show. This program is about how the Good Shepherd felt one lamb was as important as the entire flock, reminding the audience that God feels each of us has equal importance to him. This presentation stays away from denominational emphasis, conveying points which churches have in common. While the show is enjoyable for all audiences, this was created for children ministry purposes. The show is great for 4 and up. Fall or Spring Festivals: Many churches put these on and we have provided entertainment for years. For fall festivals we can provide fun, not scary CLOWN scarecrows such as Patchy the Scarecrow to perform fall harvest stage shows for the kids. We can also provide face painters, balloon sculptors, petting zoos, bounce houses and more! At Easter time we have special Easter characters like Bernice the Bunny. Corporate, Private, and City Events For large events of this type, there are some general concerns. Location - activities - equipment - entertainment - and the movement of visitors during the event. All of these points are tied to the design of your event, and we can help with advice on:
Once the location is set, the next steps are placement of entertainment, food, and attractions like bounce houses, games, or a petting zoo. We'll work with you from defining the needs of your events (such as a child care area to free up adults for an activity) to presenting enough variety to engage the visitors. Since 1991, Funny Business has helped people design large scale events which come off without a hitch. After the needs are defined, we'll work with you to select the right combination for a great experience. Perhaps you'll choose to have a balloon artist for a couple of hours, or dozens of clowns, bounce houses, obstacle courses, petting zoos, pony carousels, and special costumed characters for a day long celebration. Funny Business can provide you with talent in all those categories, in addition to stage acts like Kool Magic, and children stage acts such as Mother Goose, Reading and Rhyming and THE Bookworm. We can even arrange for the tents, and a good caterer to feed the body as well as the mind at your event. When C2Creative was arranging a Bank of America function in Dallas, they needed an event planning agency who could provide ALL DAY entertainment and day care, for over 200 children at the Dallas Convention Center, they asked if Funny Business could do it. We'd be happy to, and we did! We provided licensed childcare workers, clowns, face painters, balloons artists, carnival style games, magicians, storytellers, and puppeteers - over 20 entertainers in all - to make the day a hit with the kids!
In August 2006 the Dallas Mayor's office called for a 6:30 breakfast party with several hundred guests – a “back to school” event, and Funny Business had everything in place for a party without a hitch. |

To make the event extra special, let us arrange our popular petting zoo, the Funny Farm. We have zoos available from an 11 animal barnyard zoo to a mobile Red Barn zoo on wheels! The sweetest, friendliest animals you ever met and wanted to hug make up our USDA inspected petting zoos. We also have pony rides, and a 4 or 6 pony carousel to keep several hundred of the younger guests smiling and happy. Trackless trains are a great addition to any kids parties. We have trains of all sizes, from a small Covered Wagon Train that holds 8 – 10 children, to the Stanley Steamer which holds 18 - 24 children. Our Circus Train will hold up to 24 of your little clowns! These trains are all trackless and come with their own engineer to run them! We need a large area to run the train. Check with your city or the venue where you are having the event for rules, permit requirements, etc. as we do NOT handle getting permits for your event! Some cities require a permit to run on the street in a neighborhood. Of course, if you have a big yard or grassy area, or a large parking lot at a church for example then you are all set!
